1 Aug – Summer Update #2

BC LIONS FLAG PARTY – The next home game for the BC Lions is Saturday, 6 Aug 22 at 1900 hrs.  Cadets and CIC staff will be bringing out the Canadian Flag for the National Anthem at the beginning of the game.  Participants are encouraged to stay to watch the game, but are not required to stay. Any cadets and/or CIC Officers wishing to attend, please meet at BC Place at the East Airlock Entrance (Directly under Gate C) by 1800 hrs. There is no need to pre-register for this event. Dress will be 3B (Summer Dress – wedge, shirt, pants, boots, NO jacket or tie). Attendance will be taken upon arrival. Bring a mask just in case.

SUMMER COURSES – We have many cadets participating in summer training at various locations, and we hope all are enjoying their time with other cadets learning new skills. We have had 11 cadets and 2 staff cadets at the local CAP program, with another 11 cadets starting this week or next. We have 4 cadets at Cold Lake CTC, 2 cadets and 1 staff cadet at Quadra, and 1 cadet at Vernon.

CADET 365 ONBOARDING – We are still working through getting cadets onto Cadet 365. All cadets should have received an email with instructions on how to activate their accounts. If you didn’t receive it, email Major Angst at david.angst@cadets.gc.ca

SUMMER STAND-DOWN – With the end of the training year, we will be taking some time to organize for next September. There will be no regular training through the summer months, and the offices will not be open. We will be looking to have a senior NCO meeting and/or workshop the first week in September.

SENIOR NCO SURVEY – Thank to you all the seniors NCO’s who completed the survey. This will help us prepare next year’s command group and instructor team, as well as acknowledging anyone taking an early retirement.

EMAILS – As we are moving to the Cadet 365 system, we will not be monitoring the 754cal@gmail.com account as frequently. Please check the staff directory on the Contact Us page for addresses for specific officers and CIs.

VACCINATION STATUS – While you do not need to be vaccinated to participate in our regular activities, any cadets who wish to participate in overnight activities such as Field Training Exercises will require 2 doses.

REGISTRATION IN SEPTEMBER – Registration for returning cadets is scheduled for Wednesday 14 September, and for new cadets on Wednesday 21 September.
