It’s incredible to watch so many kids grow into accomplished young men and women through the cadet program. While we enjoy their companionship and guidance, there comes a time when we must say goodbye to cadets who age out. Such is the case with Warrant Officer Wong.
Warrant Officer Wong served with Phoenix 754 Squadron for seven years. She accomplished a great deal during her time with the squadron, including: Best Dressed Cadet, Top Level 2 Cadet, Top First Air Member, Top Bandsmen, Top Senior NCO, Top Musician and Top Overall Cadet for Basic Band in 2008, and Top Cadet for Service Band in 2010. She is the recipient of the ANA Vets medal for Service Band, the Long Service Medal and the Lord Strathcona Medal.
At her graduation ceremony, Officer Wong thanked everyone who supported her throughout the years, including the sponsoring committee, officers, all cadets, and especially her mom. “Thank you for listening to all of my rants, driving me everywhere, sewing on badges, cooking me dinner and caring for other cadets as well.”
She encouraged other cadets to enjoy the program, and always remember to dare to discover, learn, serve and advance.
And she ended her speech with a fitting verse from Daft Punk, Get Lucky.
“Like the legends of the Phoenix
All ends with beginnings
What keeps the planet spinning
The force from the beginning
We’ve come too far to give up who we are
So let’s raise the bar and our cups to the stars”
From all of us at 754 Phoenix Squadron, best of luck in your future endeavours.
