To Cadets, Parents and Guardians,
As we move into the second half of this unique training year, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the dedication that you have all shown to continuing the high standards of the cadet program and of 754 Phoenix Squadron specifically. None of us knew what to expect during the course of this year, and all of us would rather be back to in-person parades and training. The success that we have had so far is due entirely to the work that the cadets put into what we are able to do. I would be remiss if I did not extend my gratitude to the instructors and training staff, who were able to pivot to on line learning with a minimum of hiccups.
It is our intention to move ahead with in-person training as soon as we are allowed, but we need the approval of the Public Health Officer, our military commander, and the school district before we are able to do so. We have a large stock of uniforms waiting to be distributed: uniforms for new cadets, field training uniforms for all cadets, and uniform parts to exchange for our more senior cadets. If circumstances permit, we will go ahead with our 5 day spring break day camp (CAP), and we have some 1-day FTX’s (Field Training Exercises) scheduled for our return.
We look to the summer months for course opportunities to expand our skills and meet cadets from across the region and country. While in-person courses will be limited, we are looking to have other activities to take their place. I thank you all for your patience.
Should you have any questions or concerns, you are encouraged to reach out to the Squadron at 754cal@gmail.com , or check our website 754aircadets.ca for more information,
Yours truly,
Major Dave Angst, CD
Commanding Officer
